The bathroom is an indispensable part of any house. Some people spend more than 100 minutes per week inside the bathroom. Others spend longer, most especially when they go for a long and relaxing dip in the bath. Like most parts of the house, the bathroom also requires a lot of care and attention. Otherwise, you will end up dealing with stinky toilet bowls, heavily stained walls and slippery floors. Here are basic ways you can keep your bathroom spic and span:
Maximise the Space
No matter how big or small your bathrooms are, you should ensure that you utilise every bit of space you have. You can install hanging cabinets for your towels or use a bathroom sink cabinet for your bottles of shampoo, soaps and other toiletries. It’s better if you have designated cabinets for all your needs, so you can have a clutter-free bathroom. If you have limited space, you can try putting up towel racks on the bathroom door.
Keep the Shower Area Dry
Mould and mildew grow in moist places. If you don’t like dealing with mould and mildew, then you should keep your shower area dry. Wetroom shower screens are useful in keeping your bathroom dry. They are perfect for medium and large-sized bathrooms. If you have a smaller bathroom, you can use a shower curtain instead.
You must put up screens or curtains so that you can minimise the amount of water droplets splattering on the walls, tiles, and flooring. Also, you should make it a habit of wiping the shower walls after you use it. If you have enough budget, you can try applying a water repellant coating on the walls or the door.
Schedule a Regular Cleaning Routine
Because the bathroom is constantly exposed to moisture, it is susceptible to mould and mildew growth. It can also harbour harmful microorganisms than can cause illnesses. Hence, you need to schedule a regular cleanup. You can begin by wiping every available surface in the room. As much as possible, you should use long-lasting sanitizers and cleaners. Clean every corner of room and scrub off all scum. Also, don’t forget to remove any trapped hair in the sink or shower.
Don’t forget to clean the toilet bowl and check for any signs of clogging. You should use powerful cleaners to keep the toilet free from life-threatening microbes. If the toilet is clogged, you should have it fixed immediately. You should clean your bathroom at least once a week.
If you want to enjoy a fresh-smelling and tidy bathroom, you really do need to invest a lot of time and effort. It is not hard to maintain the area, as long as you make sure that you use it properly.
